Customize

Most features in Thunderbolt are modular primitives you can extend:

  • Agents - Connect to any local or remote agent via Agent Client Protocol (ACP), over a WebSocket endpoint or a peer-to-peer iroh ticket; the backend can also serve its own managed agents. Settings → Agents. See ACP Agents.
  • Models - Use any OpenAI-compatible model: on-device, on-prem, or cloud.
  • Skills - Reusable instruction bundles whose names follow the AgentSkills spec, invoked with /slug from the composer or loaded by the model on demand. Settings → Skills.
  • Projects - A workspace whose instructions every chat inside it inherits, plus a tool for searching the project’s other chats. See Projects.
  • Widgets - Interactive UI components that can be embedded inside chat responses. See Widgets.
  • Artifacts - Model-authored HTML rendered in a sandboxed iframe that cannot reach the app’s DOM, cookies, or storage. See HTML Artifacts.
  • MCP Servers - Add your own MCP servers to extend the agent’s context.
  • Search Providers - Coming Soon - Plug in your own search provider for web-grounded answers.
  • Auth Providers - Plug in your own authentication provider (e.g. OIDC, SAML, magic link).
  • Backends - Coming Soon - Connect Thunderbolt to any backend server.
  • Extensions - Coming Soon - Bundles of primitives that can be installed as a unit.
